Category: Edge

In Permaculture, the “edge” is most important. It is a place where two distinct communities come together to mix. It can be home to plants and critters of the two different communities plus plants and critters that like the edge between the two. It is the most diverse and productive. Consider these edges: Sun/Shade, Forest/Meadow, Salt Water/Fresh Water. Luna Hill Forest Garden looks like a block of forest, however, could be stretched out to be viewed as one long edge.
